A branch of article marketing is called bum marketing. Now it is important to note that these are actually two different marketing methods that allow you to accomplish the same sort of idea. Typically in article marketing you are driving the traffic to your own website, blog or landing page. You are the one that captures their email address and then sell them your product or forward them onto an affiliate site from there. On the other hand, is bum-marketing where you typically use a simple redirect to drive the traffic to an affiliate program from which you make commissions.

Bum marketing is just that marketing that a bum could possibly do. It requires minimal start up costs and is an easy way for someone to break into the internet marketing world. All it takes is a little hard work. So how do you get started?

Well first you need to decide what sort of product you are going to promote. You can check out Clickbank.com for a whole wealth of different products. Some of these work better than others, some convert better ( make sales better) others provide you a whole wealth of tools to get you started in the easiest way possible. If there is a Clickbank product for the area or niche then you can almost guarantee there is a market.

So now you need your keywords. If the publisher or owner of the Clickbank product has supplied keywords, great you are ahead of the game, even if they have though you may want to do some research of your own. What you are looking for are called long tail keywords this means lots of people search for the phrase, not so many have the phrase as a target.

Once you have your keywords you can begin to write your articles. You are not trying to sell the reader so much in the article as you are warming them up and informing them that you know the solution to their problem, whether it is how to lose weight, or how to get a date. Your article should be anywhere from 500-800 words. ( You can reduce it to around 250 words if you only submit your article to EzineArticles.com)

So you have your article and are ready to submit. Check out some of the article directories like EzineArticles.com where you can sign up and submit your article. During the submission process it will ask you for your resource box. This is where you get to link to your site, this is where article marketing and bum marketing pay off. Make sure to use an anchor keyword to link to your site. That simply means that the term people see is one of your keywords and when they click on it they go to your webpage.

Rinse and repeat. Bum marketing is not a get rich scheme, you need to submit articles regularly and consistently to drive traffic to your site. The more articles you write the more visitors you will have and as a result the more sales and money you will make, till you are a bum marketer no more.
